Conferences and Workshops

In addition to publishing information through reports and newsletters we are also actively participating in the dialogue regarding future geological deposits for spent nuclear fuel in Europe. As part of this we are actively participating and organizing conferences and workshops on relevant subjects.

Clay and Mineral Conference Montpellier (October 23-25 2012)

In addition to participating in the discussions Lucoex was also represented at the Clay Conference with a paper/presentation/poster with the topic: Granular bentonite production as Buffer Material for a Full-scale Emplacement ("FE") EXPERIMENT

Midterm Conference - Montpellier (October 25-26 2012)

The LUCOEX midterm conference workshop was organized by the project with the aim of presenting and discussing progress achieved at the mid-term of the LUCOEX 48 month duration. It was a public workshop and the programme had been planned jointly by the LUCOEX beneficiaries – Andra, Nagra, SKB and Posiva. Invitations had been distributed widely, specifically to parties assumed to have an interest in the work carried out by the project.

The workshop was chaired by LUCOEX Steering Committee Chair – Erik Thurner, who was assisted by the Co-ordinator staff – Christer Svemar and Jan Gugala.

The list of participants shows that the workshop had attendees from eleven countries in Europe, North America and Asia.

The presentations listed below were held at the workshop. The are also available for download here: (ZIP)

Automation Conference

As part of the sharing of our results from the development of automation solutions for the KBS-3H deposition machine we had a scholarship position at SKB developing the lifting control and pallet adjustment. In addition to implementing the solution Jere Knuuttila held a presentation at a Finish Automation Conference. The material presented I appended below:
